Dr. Anna Edens Hurst ‘01 and Dr. Dave Reames ’98 received the 23rd annual Distinguished Alumni Awards at a special presentation on Spencer Field during half time of the varsity football game on October 30. Mr. Fred Moulton, headmaster, Mr. Chip McMillan, chairman of the board of trustees, and Mrs. John S. Wilson presented the awards.

A Park Scholar, she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa honor fraternity and was selected as the student commencement speaker. State’s student-run newspaper, and she was a co-host of the Brad Dixon Radio Program on WKNC, offering weekly current event and political commentary. She was the student chief justice of the N.C. Anna earned a doctor of medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina where she served as the president and volunteer coordinator for the Student Interest Group in Neurology and was a class representative for Standards of Conduct.
After earning her M.D., Anna completed a pediatrics residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. She expects to complete a residency in medical genetics at the University of Alabama-Birmingham in June.

Dave is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon at the Neurosurgical Institute of Savannah and Center for Spine. His specialty is minimally invasive and complex spine surgery, and he also performs peripheral nerve surgery and cranial neurosurgery including brain tumors.
He graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science in biology from The Citadel where he was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi national honor society and Beta Beta Beta national biology honor society. He was the recipient of the Harry L. Carrigg Scholarship, the Rex Skanchy Scholarship and the Bernard Baruch Scholarship, and he received the Gold Medal Award for organic chemistry.
Dave graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina with a doctor of medicine. At MUSC he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and he received the following scholarships: Dean’s Scholarship, U.S. Achievement Academy All-American Scholarship, Southern Medical Association Scholarship, South Carolina Medical Association Foundation Scholarship, John C. Rich Scholarship, and DeWitt L. Harper Scholarship.
股票解套的六种技巧He completed a general surgery residency and a neurosurgery residency at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, where he served as chief resident, and he spent 12 months at Auckland City Hospital in New Zealand practicing complex intracranial neurosurgery. Dave went on to complete a fellowship in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery at the Semmes-Murphey Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee, where he gained special training in tubular spine surgery, robotic surgery, and repair of complicated deformity and scoliosis correction.
Dave has written approximately 20 peer reviewed scientific papers and book chapters including publications in The Journal of Neurosurgery, The Spine Journal, and various textbooks. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Georgia Neurological Society, and Southern Neurological Society.
